Pet Vaccination & Titre Testing.

Pet Vaccination

Pet vaccinations are an important part of keeping your pet healthy. They help protect against many common diseases, some of which can be fatal. Vaccinations are especially important for young and old pets, as they are more vulnerable to disease.

At Bangalow Vets, we offer a wide range of vaccination services for all kinds of pets, and our experienced team is always on hand to provide advice and answer any questions you may have.

Puppy Vaccination.

Your puppy’s first few months of life are crucial for their development, so it’s important to make sure they are protected against common diseases.

Puppies require three vaccinations one month apart.

1st vaccination between 6-8 weeks
2nd vaccination between 10-12 weeks
3rd vaccination between 14-16 weeks

We tailor our puppy vaccination schedules to take into account the individual pet, their lifestyle, and the area they live in. We offer a full range of puppy vaccinations to ensure your puppy’s protection.

  • Canine Parvovirus
  • Canine Distemper Virus
  • Canine Adenovirus type 1 & 2
  • Canine Parainfluenza Virus
  • Bordetella bronchiseptica (Kennel Cough)

After their three puppy vaccinations, your pooch will then require annual booster vaccinations thereafter.

Your vet will be able to advise you on the most appropriate puppy vaccination schedule for your pet based on their individual needs. Get in touch with our team to learn more about puppy vaccinations.

Adult Dog Vaccination.

To ensure they retain immunity against disease throughout their life, it’s important for adult dogs to get regular health checks and booster vaccinations against Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Adenovirus types 1 & 2, Canine Parainfluenza Virus, and Bordetella (kennel cough). This is especially important for dogs that are pregnant or have a weakened immune system. We offer full health checks with all vaccination appointments.

Kitten Vaccination.

There is no ‘one size fits all’ kitten vaccination schedule, as the timing of vaccinations will vary depending on the kitten’s age and health status. However, most kittens will need to receive a series of vaccinations starting at around 6-8 weeks of age.

At Bangalow Vets, we can tailor a kitten vaccination schedule to suit your individual circumstances. We offer a range of cat vaccinations, including:

  • Feline Panleukopenia Virus
  • Feline Calicivirus
  • Feline Herpesvirus
  • Feline Chlamydia
  • Feline FIV

A kitten will require its first vaccine from 8 weeks of age. Depending on their circumstances, they will either require one or two more boosters at either 10 week or 12 weeks of age. This can get complicated and confusing, therefore, speaking to our vets will give you peace of mind.

We recommend vaccinating cats with outdoor access against Feline FIV. This usually requires three vaccines 2-4 weeks apart. Speak to our veterinarians for advice on what is best for your kitten.

Adult Cat Vaccination.

As they get older, your pet will need annual cat booster vaccinations to make sure their immunity is up-to-date.

In addition to routine vaccinations, cats may also require occasional “lifestyle” vaccinations depending on their lifestyle and risk factors. For example, cats who go outside may need the Feline FIV vaccination vaccine.

Titre Testing

Titre testing, or measuring protective antibody levels, is a more holistic approach to vaccinating dogs.

Every animal responds differently to vaccinations; by testing for antibodies, we can tailor vaccination plans to suit the individual. This helps us avoid over-vaccinating or unnecessarily vaccinating every year.

Titre testing requires a small blood sample and also includes a full health check. This approach to vaccination is becoming more popular as we learn more about the individual needs of animals. If you have any questions about titre testing, please feel free to reach out to our team!
